5 Tips For Staying Healthy At The Office

The office or workspace is where we spend most of our day and most of our week. So creating a healthy work place will help you to stay on track with your fitness goals.

Working in an office space can cause a number of healthy concerns including tight hip flexors, bad posture and the unseen enemy, stress. However packing a healthy lunch is not the only way to stay on track with your goals, you also have to actively control your work stress levels.

Stress is not to be taken likely as it can lead to many health concerns including anxiety, depressions, weight gain and high blood pressure. So here are 5 tips to help you manage your stress levels and stay healthy in the office.

Tip 1: Work Stays At Work

Your work life and home life need to stay separate, otherwise you will be bringing the stresses of work home with you. So never take work home but leave it at work where it belongs. If you need to go into the office early or work through lunch then do so, as it is better than taking it home.

Tip 2: Prepare Your Meals In Advance

It’s true that failing to prepare is preparing to fail. If you don’t take a healthy lunch with you to work, then you are more likely to buy someone unhealthy. Cook and prepare you meals the night before or at the start of the week, so that you never go hungry and are not tempted to cheat. Also make sure that you keep some healthy snacks in your desk draw, like nuts, muesli bars and fruit so that when hunger calls, you have an answer.

Tip 3: Move Around

Being sedentary can wreak havoc on your joints, posture and hip flexors. So make sure that every hour you get up and move around a little. This could be just walking to the printer and back. Also try to get in some stretches once a day, maybe at lunchtime so that you don’t become too stiff.

Tip 4: Exercise At Lunch Time

Getting outdoors and moving around during lunchtime is a great way to rejuvenate yourself for the rest of the day. So eat your healthy lunch at your desk and then get some friends together and go for a walk. You could even start a running group or walking group.

Tip 5: Time Management

Staying back to finish work can ruin your chances of going to the gym or a class. So get organized and schedule work time, social time, personal time and exercise time. Either use a diary or use an App to help you stay on track.
